Do I Need To Refrigerate Food Sealed In A Food Hugger?Updated 2 hours ago

Yes, please! Just like any other leftover produce, food sealed in a Food Hugger stays freshest when kept in the refrigerator. Even fruits and veggies that usually sit out on the counter—like tomatoes, lemons, or avocados—will last longer in the fridge once they’ve been cut (and hugged).

The Food Hugger helps by creating a tight seal that slows air exposure and moisture loss, but temperature still plays a big role. Refrigeration helps preserve texture, flavor, and nutrients while preventing spoilage.

If you’re wondering what goes where, here’s a good rule of thumb:

  • Place your Hugged fruits and veggies up front where you can see them. One of the most frequent reasons that leftover fruits and veggies spoil is that we forget that we have them.  Place your leftover fruits and vegetables at eye level and up front so you remember that you’ve got a fabulous and fresh avocado waiting and ready to go!

Good food storage habits go hand in hand with reducing food waste. When we store our food thoughtfully—cut produce sealed, temperature managed, and air minimized—we give every ingredient the best possible chance to be eaten, not thrown away.

We’ve put together a FREE PDF guide full of food storage tips and best practices for reducing food waste at home. Just email us at [email protected] and we’ll send you a downloadable PDF version to keep handy in your kitchen.

Every small habit helps. Together, they add up to fresher food, a happier fridge, and a little less waste in the world.
